I have no money for expensive strobes so I have to go strobist style and use cheap equipment.  :p

Here's one picture from last year. I used 4 Yongnuo 560III speedlights in Supersync mode to overpower the ambient light.

Maybe a 4 stop ND filter is the better choice but in Germany I can't find a good an inexpensive nd filter. Normally I prefer the brand Haida. But there are just 3 stops.

Large softbox high and slightly to camera right using a Rovelight 600.

Ballpark settings were ISO 200, f/4.2, about 120mm, 1/4000.

^^ Too much skin smoothing IMHO. Just over-expose the face a little and you rarely need any pp.
