Sometimes HSS is the best tool for the job!
This is Danielle in Knoxville in 2012, Bare speed light to the left (notice the tiny catchlights, another reason why I don't LOVE speed lights)

F4, ISO 100, 1/1200

Lighting:
One XPLOR 600 camera right on TTL (guessing full power was used since it was bright out) w/ a 5 foot Paul C Buff octabox camera right just out of frame. Light was set off using the R2 transmitter.

Exif:
Canon 6D + 135L
f/2 - 1/4000th - ISO 50

really fantastic

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Im trying to get a soft box for outdoor full length shots .. what is the minimum size i should go with? using with a rl600b mono..
any suggestions would be really appreciated ..dont really have any experience with this kinda thing except for some small umbrella kits that i use now with speedlights .

I think it's better to post the question in separate post?

I would go 3x4 for a min or the 5' octa.

You don't necessarily need a large softbox for full length shots.

This is taken with the same strobe (rl600b) with the included 5.5 inch reflector with diffuser cap

And this was taken with a 47" octabox, double diffused

Now of course the shot with the softbox produces a softer light, but a large softbox isn't an end all be all.
