Thanks for the feedback. That's something I overlooked. Will keep in mind for next time. =)

I saw it but honestly don't have a huge issue with it. It could be a simple aiming/feathering thing with your primary. Or it could be balanced by dropping the reflector a bit. Lovely image is all I care about most. :-)

You're addressing me? If so, I did acknowledge the crop. Thank you

Joey, is that you?

Good to see you man; thought you fell into a hole and ended up in China. BTW you are singlehandedly responsible for my gear selection last year (PCB, Rovelight).

Thanks for the post. Nice shot

I can speak for Joey here: he uses the Paul C Buff 47 inch Octabox.

I'm trying to learn how to photograph people as well as use a speed light. I shot this with a Youngnuo speed light in a 32" umbrella softbox with my Fuji X100. Critiuques are welcome.

HSS is not needed with an in-lens shutter (X100) or at 1/60th second if a focal plane shutter.

I like it.

2 things:
- I think it would have been better if he was looking at the camera
- the hot spot from the flash can been seen on the tip of his nose - this is very easy to reduce in PS using the Paint Brush tool and using a color sample from his nearby skin and using a very low flow rate and paint over the hot spot (not too much - just enough to slightly dial back the flash circle)

Given the FL and DoF, I personally would have shot it as 1/120 or 1/200 and F8 or F5.6

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
