Second post in this forum. ;-)a

I have no money for expensive strobes so I have to go strobist style and use cheap equipment. :p

Here's one picture from last year. I used 4 Yongnuo 560III speedlights in Supersync mode to overpower the ambient light.

EXIFs: Canon 6D | Canon 85/1.8 @85mm | 1/1250 | f/1.8 | ISO 100

Maybe a 4 stop ND filter is the better choice but in Germany I can't find a good an inexpensive nd filter. Normally I prefer the brand Haida. But there are just 3 stops.

This is a great capture and edit. It shows that you can go small and still get great shots. Its just knowing how to use what you have. Thanks for sharing.

Looking at the great images posted here makes me hesitant to post mine ,, but this is one of my first attempts at this..
using a single yongnuo 568 ex ii.. which wasnt really strong enough but it did good enough for me to get a taste of ocf hss outdoor portraits.. so for now will cotinue with that to learn ,, but eventually will probably get and RL from adorama as i am liking the effects of this type of outdoor portraits

i know they are overdone as far as PP (working on my LR skills)especially the 2nd and 3rd but we (my son ,the kid in the picture and i) were trying to get a very dramatic angry sky..not sure if thats what i accomplished , but that was the intent :-)

Why f10? No wonder flash is not making any difference in these shots. Try same at f2.0, f2.0 and you will see what I mean.

Too lilttle flash. Shoot wider aperture, move flash closer and pick some better back ground. Sorry to nit pick.

This is simply stunning—the serene expression—the staid pose—the colour palette—the symmetry (one of those rare cases in which veering away from the rules makes a shot instead of breaking it). Bravo!
