I am trying to look for a reliable 3rd party LP-E6 battery for my 5D mark 3. Anyone has batteries that lasted 3-4 years, don't fail, blow up, or short circuit the camera?

I know with batteries, correct me if I am wrong that nickel based batteries tend to not last long and are prone to blowing up and lithium based batteries does last long depending on the cycle of the battery when the circuitry needs to recharge their ions and could also blow up.

Lots of threads on this subject but I'll sum it up for you.

They don't blow up or short circuit the cameras.
Buy Sterlingtek or Wasabi batteries. These are 2 most popular brands of third party batteries.

They shouldn't blow up if I store them in their little orange holder preventing a short circuit.

I have both, few of each. They are both fine. Wasabi has a longer establishment in this business, which also mean you may get older batch also depend on where you buy your. This probably no longer an issue, but you could end up with older batch that has no chip and not work with new firmware. This kind of issue do creep up from time to time.

Been using the Sterlingtek batteries in the 60D for over 4 years and in the 70D for over a year. Zero problems.

SterlingTek was the first reliable 3rd party battery brand for the original 5D years ago and is still rocking with reliability.

I had good luck with wasabi batteries in my 7D but they won't work in my 7D Mark II. They charge in the 7D charger but not in the Mark II charger. I'm looking for 3rd party batteries myself.
Thanks
John

I've been using Wasabi for my 5D3 as well as a camcorder. Been very happy. Heard great things about SterlingTek, also. Just go with whichever is cheaper.

I've used Sterlingtek batteries in every camera I have had going back to my 300D in 2005. Have three for my 7DII.

I've been using Maxtek batteries in my 60D for years. No issues. I bought Wasabi batteries for my 6D. 17 months in, and no issues.

Been using the Sterlingtek batteries in the 60D for going on 3 years and no problems. I would suggest that whatever you chose, find their website and order direct from the source. Skip eBay, Amazon, etc. Get directly from STK or Wasabi, then you are reasonably sure you are buying fresh stock.
