Does it work or did I just miss the light on the side of his head??

Pretty good Steve! They are fun to shoot. The right side of his head is in shadow......if you use Lightroom 5 to process, try playing with the radial filter in that area, or just raising the face shadows a bit with the adjustment brush.

I thought about trying to work some more in Lightroom but decided the little bit I did do was almost to much ... the SOOC shot is pretty good maybe I should spend a bit more time in LR.
