Wide open, though I may have slightly missed focus (it was pitch black so I had to set focus and then have him skid into the right place), 1/1000th and a couple flashes.

Shot late in the day since the moon came out before sunset I was able to shoot it without a tripod.
In a hurry I guess because it was only shot at 188mm :(
ISO 200
f/4
1/400
Never the less I shot it while walking to another location just to see how a hand held shot would do with this lens and I am quite pleased... no I'm extremely happy with this lens!
I have some portraits I will post asap

Did you crop the hell out of it? I can't get anything close to that on the 1D (1.3 crop).

Taken at Bagram Airfield (AF) last year, handheld. Probably would have been a lot better if I could have increased the shutter time...

I opened it in Photoshop and zoomed in until it said 100% then cropped it at 72 pix which made it 576x576 I adjusted the levels to darken it a little then I didn't do anything else.

That's a 100% crop, wide open?

I disagree, the moon is perfectly exposed and the dark hazy foreground adds mood. More exposure would have bleached the moon and the foreground would be very low on contrast.

Impressive results, I need to try this again!

Oh, thanks! I wasn't sure if the extreme warmth of the moon was too much or not. I may have had the white balance set on "Cloudy" or something, but I kinda liked it that way.

And to tell the truth, Bagram looks better in the dark...

Thank you. I think the faster shutter speed helped, the sun had set but there was plenty of light still.
