Here's my first attempt. It looks terrible to me. I think I will be getting a monopod today.

Thanks for the tips j28 & markhyo, I apprciate it!

One other option is a poor man IS; a piece of string that doesn't stretch tied to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera (I've tied the string to the latch on the tripod plate). Place a big metal washer at the other end of the string and step on it to pull it tight. This will help minimize up and down motion of your camera and lens. Plus it takes up no space in your camera bag!

Thanks! You've cut the time in half for me to save for a 70-200mm f/4 non-IS!

This thread is for images, not chit chat about photography. Please use the appropriate sections of the forum for that!

I didn't realise the thread was purely for images. Surely there's no harm in people asking for advice about the lens and its use?

The harm is that it clutters up these threads which were specifically laid out for images. We have an entire forum for discussing the lens itself.

From the rules thread: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=574173

And try to keep the chatter to a minimum.
We have an entire forum dedicated to the discussion of lenses and their merits, this forum is dedicated to the Image Samples!

Yes, I'd overlooked the fact that this was an archive thread. Apologies.

Now If only my shots could look that good. :(
