Heavy wise it's not bad, I also loved the Image Quality.

But I don't love the attention I get from a 'big white lens. Always felt awkward in a way.

So now I got the 135mm/f2 on, and love it to much, it's nice, black, small, super sharp and has awesome bokeh, and it does not come of the camera anymore!

Do it Mike, you really wont regret it. Several people said I would hate it since it does not have IS. Hasn't been an issue for me. Would like the 2.8, sure if I was independently wealthy, but from everything I have read, the F4 is sharper than the original 2.8 and I have to say, it is really a dream to shoot with.
The weight is there, but I think it is not unruly. It is about 1.5 pounds and that is a lot less than the military weaponry I used to use back in the day. So it is all good. I just need to get a Rapid Strap and that will solve the issue of it hanging oddly off my current OEM neck strap. LOL

It's cheap, so cheap it would be crazy not to own it. This lens turned out to be my best 'landscape & city zoom'.

But there are other lenses to consider which are very very good.

A good decent portrait and landscaping lens. It seems fully capable of both. I love my Canon 100mm L but just want something with more reach

It might be my fault, but from all pictures I've taken with the 70-200mm/f4, they are all tack sharp. But all pictures on this forum from the 70-200mm f/2.8 II, too many are popping subjects ... it's an exceptional lens, but very heavy and obvious to carry around.

I switched to the 135mm f/2 and my god, how I love the results ...

The 70-200/f4 is very good, but you have to consider what you are really after

Just bought the lens! I got it used in mint condition and manufactured a year ago. Went out and did shoot some motorsports with it. Very solid lens for the price. I like it!

Lol I hear ya on the military stuff. I put 12 years in the Army and had plenty of 20 mile road marches in full battle uniform.

Like I said, mainly portrait and some landscaping with some reach

Just bought this lens so shall be contributing Initial impressions are very good. Nice and sharp. Nice and light for a bigish lens. Took some quick pics this afternoon, but if the weather is good tomorrow I will try and shoot some ducks

I have the Black Rapid Sport with this lens attached to a 7D and I'm pretty sure I could carry it all day with zero discomfort. It makes a huge difference.

That is great to hear. I have several people I know that swear by them, it is good to hear that others have validated that here as well.
