Is there a way to make the 6D continuous focus or AI focus in Live View mode?

sure, manual focus.

:D

No AF on 6D with the mirror up.

Mine does. That is how LV and video focus work. But you are right, if OP wants continuous focus, manual it is.

Doesn't it flop the mirror down, focus, and flip it back up?

Edit: oh wait, does flexi zone focus without flipping down the mirror? I've never used that as I'm always in the studio using MF when in live view.

Yes, sir. The Live View method leaves the mirror up and is quite accurate in most any light (good for stills or video, too!) The 'quick' method flips the mirror back down, uses the standard phase-detect AF, then flips up the mirror. It is a lot faster, but does not work while you are recording. Technicalities.

In practical terms, you were right the first time. Use manual if continuous AF is needed during video. Although I think the 70D and 7DII can do that.

Well what do you know?

I just pulled my lazy butt off the couch and went to get my camera. Without putting the mirror back down the focus is definitely slow, and out of 4 or so tests it missed twice, it's dark in here, but good to know it's available if needed. I guess two years ago when I got the camera I just liked the AF Quick for its accuracy and have always left it there. Usually what I do is AF once then flip into manual.

Going to be messing aroung with some more video and bought this old MF 50mm last night. I like MF. :D

I don't do video, so my post above is the sum total of my knowledge of how it works.
