So last week I happily found a lens I've been waiting for a good deal on- the 70-200 f/4 L. I placed the order and it arrived promptly. Popped it on the camera and took a few test shots- and found out that any time you tried to focus at anything closer than 25 feet or so, out of luck. The focusing group got stuck, and wouldn't try to focus.

Popped it into manual focus and working the ring back and forth did eventually free it up, but obviously not thrilled with a lens rated excellent that had this issue, so I sent out an email to KEH asking for either an exchange, refund, or repair. They answered the same day- sent me a prepaid label for shipping, and authorized an exchange for a lens rated EX+ that included the case at no extra charge.

I was bummed about the delay, so I inquired if I could pay extra for faster turnaround and shipping, since my son's little league opening day is Saturday and I wanted to have the lens to use.

KEH responded- they picked up my returned lens from receiving the same day it was delivered (today), and sent out the replacement lens overnight for no charge.

Looking at my order history I'm not a huge customer- I've spent around $1,00 over the last 2 years. Very impressed with how they resolved this issue, and will continue to buy from them in the future.

Thanks for sharing. Good to see how a company rebounds from an issue, because they all have issues.

Add me to the list too. Made several purchases and had a couple of repairs/exchanges. No issues whatsoever.

I have never purchased from KEH, but I have sold a few lenses to them with great results. Once they even graded a lens higher after receiving it than I did when requesting a quote, and therefore purchased it from me at higher than the price we had originally agreed to. Such integrity is always refreshing.

Just for clarity, what was the initial lens graded? EX+ also? Just wanted to confirm. Starting to see what they have to offer. Aloha, Mike

The original lens was graded EX. Based on the condition of the lens (apart from the issue) I would have agreed with the grade. Some minor finish marks, minor dust inside. No scratches or major marks on the glass.

Good to hear. I've only purchased one lens from them but it was as advertised and I still have it (28-70).

And as a follow up- they also threw in the tripod ring as well. New lens arrived today and works perfectly.

How were the prices that they gave you for the lenses you sold? I was looking using them a little while ago and it seemed like the online quotes were pretty low - maybe it's worth the difference to sell it with 0 hassle, though.

The prices I have sold lenses for at KEH are somewhat lower than you see posted here by owner. However, KEH pays for shipping, and there are also no PayPal fees. When you take those costs into account, their prices are not bad for the no hassle, quick sale. Also, posted prices here are not necessarily the final sale price. KEH's prices are much better than what Adorama offers, too.

Those are good points to remember - thanks!
