Is this lens worth looking into for a Sony A7 or even fd to ef mount? What's the most you would pay for one?

Personally I would look at it as a manual focus telescope for the moon or celestial work. Not much else.

I'd buy it for a few hundred only, personally, even then I'd still probably pass. FD mount is too much of a pain on EOS, and just not worth it. On the Sony or other systems that can adapt a little easier to it, you still are left with what's basically a manual focus lens that is optically good.

Very best,

ed mika makes an adapter for it...so it's not that bad of a pain, and it's glassless, so you don't have any of those negative effects...only one would be how far you can focus:

what are your planned uses for it, or are you just coming across a deal, and wondering if it's worth it?

personally i wouldn't spend much on one at all, because i wouldn't have any use for it...i see them on ebay for $1,800...but nobody is biting on those

I wouldn't pay so much as $100 for one. It would be completely and utterly useless for the way I shoot. I say this as an owner of an EF 400 f2.8. The focal length and aperture are great, but having no autofocus would leave me with a useless lens, as manually focusing is simply no good for the way I shoot.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I have this FD supertele and like it.
Bu it is far from perfect, the FD 300mm/2.8L and 500/4.5L are better corrected.

It is a beast with its ~5kg weight and nose heavy.
I haven“t use it on my Sony A7II in its original optical setup, only in my different ways to make it a superfast long lens (external link).

On a Canon EOS 5D I have made with such a lens (I converted one some years ago) near BIF images:

I have made BIF in flight too, but not sure which one with this lens.
