Canon 6d AV Speedlight sync speed settings w/manual flash

Does the minimum shutter speed settings not apply with a manual flash? I have ttl flashes and the sync speed limits respond but if I use my manual flash, it does not. I realize this is probably a pretty basic question.

. . . . . . . . and - the max sync speed limit still applies, you just have to remember that yourself when using M flash or M triggers. ? 1/160th with a 6D.

Thanks. That is what I found out. Manual setting with manual flash will have to be the plan. I do have ttl flashes, as well, but it's good to fiddle with the back up stuff once in a while just to be familiar. I mostly use the manual flashes off-camera in manual any way.

Thanks for chiming in. My frustration was that the shutter was too slow. I'll stick with manual for manual flash. I think it's technically 1/180 on a 6d, which you don't see with 1/3 exposure increments set.
