I'm looking for a roller/backpack and narrowed it down to 2 bags:
Think Tank Airport takeoff,
Tenba Roadie II hybrid.

Size-wise internally they are very comparable with TT being 1" longer and 1" wider, but about 1/2 - 1" shallower.
Externally, TT is only 1" longer and 1/2" shallower.
They weigh the same.
Both hold similar amount of gear.

Features specific to Airport takeoff:
- Cable/Lock to secure laptop and TSA approved lockable sliders on main zipper;
- One review mentioned the depth isn't great for speedlites, the flash heads aren't flush with the bag dividers.

Features specific to Tenba Roadie:
- Quick and convenient access to documents, tickets, etc.
- Includes 4-pocket media wallet for CF or SD cards
- Costs $40 less, which is marginal

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I know I'm getting to this a little late, but I just got back from a 2 week road trip shooting music and sport events that included air travel and tour bus.

An alternate option you might consider is the LowePro Pro Roller 200x. It's basically a back pack that zips securely into a roller chassis. Fits perfectly in overhead compartment as carry on. Sturdy wheels/handle for dragging it around, and surprisingly well balanced as a back pack. Spent a few days walking around a couple of miles with no complaints.

It fits everything i need and the speedlights stand up just fine.

This may be somewhat helpful. I made a blog post about everything I fit into my Airport Security V 2.0 and I have the Take Off as well. Think tank makes a really solid bag and I've been happy with both so far http://joedantone.com/whats-in-your-camera-bag/ (external link)

I second the TT option but I have no experience of Tenba. As for Lowepro, I so very nearly bought the X200 but I could not fit what I needed into it, so had a look the the TT Airport V2. Truly a great bag. You have two shoulder straps to carry it as a backpack but I wouldn't for long. I detached mine long ago. I am constantly amassed as to just how much gear I can get into it.

I went for the Think Tank Airport Takeoff, haven't used it yet, but the thing is build like a tank, very comfortable, the only drawback so far is lack of pockets for small things, like cards, batteries, etc.
