These are far from top notch but this was the first time I've seen any woodpeckers, let alone shoot any. So, here are a couple I shot when I visited Idyllwild, Ca. earlier this week. I'm afraid I can't even tell you what kind of woodpeckers they are.

Oh those are so pretty! What kind of woodpecker is that? They definitely look different than the ones I have around here. The black masking on the birds face gives him or her a very distinctive look!

Thanks. This pair was pretty noisy too. I first heard them pecking at that power pole and in the mountains, their rat-tat-tat echoed very well. :-)
