His eyes are not in focus. His hands seem more in focus than his eyes. Background is a little distracting, with the line right through his head, etc.

Besides not being tack sharp, and I'm not sure it is a front focus issue, as when you really zoom in none of the image is truly sharp - so i'm guessing it is shutter speed, and the busy background that was already mentioned, you have a model that is heavily perspiring and his head is a shinny mess. In terms of the pose, you have too much head tilt going on because you are losing his right pupil and you are picking up white in the eye below the pupil - both of which are not the best / attractive.

If this is something you must deliver, you can use PS to fix his glowing skin; and, if you have another picture of him with both his right eye less rotated up into his head there are easy PS tricks to swap that eye in there.

Doing the above two, swap in sharper eyes and fix the glowing skin, will go a long way to fixing what you have.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Agreed. Looking at the hair, it definitely looks like low SS shake.

I would go with a longer focal length as well. As shown, his head and left hand show a fair amount of distortion which is fairly distracting.

The uneven light on the face belongs in a dramatic portrait of the model. That's not what to aim for in a commercial shot for a tailor. The emphasis should be on the clothes.

This, is bang on the money - the shadow across the suit is really distracting. As others have said as well, its nothing like sharp enough. Im also not keen on the crop but this may just be my own taste. Good effort but maybe back to the drawing board with this one.

I am not a commercial photog. But i am big into my fashion. For a custom suit, it doesn't fit him very well. A little bit baggy and long (see the shoulders and the joints).

Agreed with everything OhLook and Dave said as well, but the appearance of proper fit is essential. Even though the lighting and focus was noticeable, the poor fit was the first thing I noticed.

I think I've seen this shot before. Have you posted it before?

Nothing in the image is tailored, the suit is baggy, the shirt is poorly pressed, too large and the model is shiny.

Really appreciate the comments and tips.

Definitely looks like SS now that i look at his hair and the suit is definitely a bit too long. The model was irked about that one too but it was rushed as with most startup fashion companies..

They always make the same mistakes
