That is a reasonable expectation, but no reason for buying frenzy until it has been confirmed for this lens.

Buying frenzy? I just said that this lens may fit the bill. I will get it when I get around to it (I need a prime to shoot my wife's artwork).

Agreed.

I don't see what all the fuss is all about.
Canon missed their shipment date by a decade.

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Until somebody posts RAW files the jury is out. Thank you for the jpgs though. The bokeh definitely looks more pleasant the the MkII, although shot at 1.8 I don't know why... the sharpness is what is to be expected (I'd like to see how my workflow in RAW affects it). From the early reports the (not entirely noiseless?) AF is good (not the noisy bzzzzzt, biki biki biki of the MkII).

When some early adopter has the time, it would be nice to see some photo testing CA of which the MkII has plenty...

I'll take it when I go pick up son and load the raw into Dropbox. It doesn't make much noise, but I don't pay it much attention unless it is really loud.

Just got home and opened box. The lens is built light years better then the II. the old one felt like a cheap toy. This one has some heft. It feels solid in my hands not like I will crush it if I sneeze holding it

My gear

R7, 7D, Canon RF 14-35 f4L, Canon RF 50 1.8 STM, Tamron 70-200 G2, Canon 100-400LII, Canon EF-RF

If its not too much trouble can you post a wide open shot of a person with focus on the eye? I cant really take much from the turtle shot as I dont know where you focussed (face looks oof).

Thanks
