Have been putting off getting one but an opportunity pops up.

$ not really an issue...want something that is rock on dependable, accurate and built tough. Will this work or should I step up???? Its on sale for a few hours so I have some time to decide...thanks

Thats a great meter. Its the replacement for the the highly regarded Sekonic L358 that so many of us here use and love.

Yup, L-358 user here ;)

I'm not crazy about the replacement being touch-screen, but that definitely appears to be a good price on that kit. I got my 358 in the classifieds section for around $200 (shipped).


I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine

I agree as well. I much prefer buttons that I can feel so I can operate things without actually having to look at what I'm doing all of the time. Either way though, Sekonic makes fantastic meters. I just prefer my L358 and my Cyber Commander

I find the L478 a bit more accurate than the L358. The touchscreen isn't as fast to use as a dial, but on the other hand the L478 can be operated with one hand.

A major downside to the L478 is battery life. It's easily 25x worse than the L358.

The L758-DR is a way better meter. The 1° spot is well worth it –verily, without the spot a meter is only half a meter.
