Totally OT, but doing the quick math, do you realize CDS has an avg of 17 posts per day, and Tim 25?!!!! I'd like to see anyone best that

Heh, I was having lunch and got bored. I've mostly lost interest in gear, it's not what you have, it's what you do with it, though good gear helps a lot.

Even CDS with his 17K+ posts is only on 17 posts per day... at this rate I should overtake him in May 2008 :p :D

First place it's indeed a honey moon but i want to get good photos. I'm indeed looking for a excuse to purchase a new lens. Like Tim said, a wide lens would do the trick. I hope the 17-40 would to the trick here, so if i'm going to take this lens with me, i don't have to buy a new toy right now. I'm gonna continu on taking pictures and hopefully find out what i'm missing.

I hope i get some reply's but it's down to 2 choices.
1. Canon 24-105
2. Canon 70-200 2.8

I was shooting some landscape this week and i needed to get some more zoom. That was the first time i missed it. I had the F4 version but didn't used it. Now, when i would need it, i missed it. (sold it a couple weeks ago).
The lens going to Thailand will be the 17-40 or 24-105 if i get it. I think the would be perfect to use for landschape and i'm going to use it mostly on a tripod. If i think later the line, then i will add a 24-70 or 24-105 for midrange use. I think that would be my lens setup and where everything i do would be coverd. Don't have the money for the IS, so.

The 70-200 F2.8 is heavy and large, not something you'd take on a honeymoon. For a travel lens the 24-105 would be much better, personally i'd probably just stick with the wide lens.

Help! In the market for 24-105 or 70-200 2.8. I mostly take landscape and macro photos and now i want a new lens. Going to thailand in september (honey moon) and i think a 24-105 will be perfect. I have a 20D. Any other suggestions in that money range? Don't need extra flash for macro. I have a 17-40 for the wide. I just can't decide on what to get.

As much as I love my 70-200mm f/2.8L, it's not going to be the lens for either landscape or macro photography. I don't know if that's were you were thinking, but don't.

If you're looking to round out your lens selection, I would probably lean towards the 24-105mm...

If i get the 2.8 70-200, i don't bring that on the vacation.I'll bring the 17-40.
If i get a 24-105, then i'll take that instead of the 17-40. I was shooting some landschape and i find ou that my 17-40 wasn't long enough. So i thought instead, i also could buy a 70-200 2.8. I know it's heavy but i'm shooting mostly on a tripod. I had the f4 version but didn't use it, but when i needed something longer last week, i missed it. And the range between the 40(17-40) and the 105(24-105) isn't that much, so with the 200, it will be longer. En then later the route i would add the 24-105 for the mid, so that i'd coverd the range from 17 to 200.

I know i'd miss the 12mm on my 12-24 if I didn't have it on holiday. Sometimes I wish for 10mm.

I have no need for that wide right now (10mm/12mm). I'm even thinking of buying the f4 version again. Really don't know any more. Even the DO comes up.
