High School Men's Volleyball

These are shot in JPG on my 7dmk1 70-200 2.8 IS2 @ 1/500 f 2.8 ISO 1600
Minimal post process work as I usually shoot wildlife and shoot RAW but I didnt want to
waste my time with RAW if I sucked at the action shots.
I do coach vball and have played for 20 years so I know the game which helps with knowing
what will happen next.
I cropped some to keep the scoreboard and others to get rid of it. They are a bit dark on flickr but look good on my LR6.

Was this a state game vs Ironwood Ridge? Anyways, nice shots. I think cropping out the scoreboard would help you hone in more on the game with the players faces. You should start shooting a bit tighter as well. The exposure is aobut a good 1/3-2/3 stop dark...actually might even work with a whole stop more. I know in most of the gyms I shoot at, 3200 seem to be the best in getting my whites closer to white while shooting at the same shutter and aperture.
But yeah, crop tighter. It's a bad habit of mine but I always look at the main subject then look everywhere else in photos.

I'll give 3200 a shot next time but 1600 is as high as I like to even try. There was no light in this gym and no flash.
