i have about 1,500 files that the wedding photog I shoot for wants changed. They're in three different folders from three different weddings. Please, pretty please, tell me I can do this in either Lightroom or in OSX without having to individually click on each one and rename.

How to I change my camera settings (Canon 6d) to put say my initials in each file name?

Thanks

In lightroom select all the files you want to rename. Under 'Library' on the menu bar there is an option 'Rename Photos...'. From there you have a bunch of options to rename them with custom filenames, sequences, etc.

As for you other question do you mean the copyright information in camera or a watermark on the image?

Thanks nqjudo!!

I mean the file name that the camera spits out. The primary photographer doesn't want my file name/numbering sequence clashing with hers. Oops

There are a lot of ways around that. I don't think you can use custom file names on the 6D but you can when importing to Lightroom. If you want to keep the files separate they can be imported with a different naming sequence or even to different folders.

Point out both photographers work should be presented integrated. Why does the customer care who took the photos? I renumber photos for a wedding from 1 to whatever they reach, ordered by time, regardless of the photographer. Eg for Jane and Bob JB001 up to JB500. Also, they should be processed together to ensure consistent processing and color.

I can't speak for the OP but I don't get the sense the lead photog wants to separate the work for the benefit of or presentation to the client. More likely a behind the scenes scenario of easily knowing what shot belongs to what shooter. Processing together is not an issue either. With the date/time being the same on each camera the photos can easily be bunched together and displayed by capture time for continuity and editing.

Thanks. Its actually done in Lightroom quite easily--so I'll probably stick to that since I won't have to go back in and change the reference in LR anyway. Its on the right pane in the library tab. :-)

I agree. But she shoots Nikkun and I shoot Canon. I doubt they can be overly batch processed given the differences from the sensors. I think she just wants to know who shot what. Besides for our first I was the lowly third shooter and the 'real' second shooter was also a canon shooter. I got in the good graces after just the first and was offered pay to stay for subsequent weddings

Be sure to sync your cameras time settings, too!

They do need tweaking by brand, but less than you'd think.
