Hi!

I have never done photography before, but, I have recently taken an interest.
I am having a go on the subject reflection, and taken a couple of shots.
I have decided to enter one in a competition but don't know which one!
The first one is a serious one and the second/third is me (attempting) to be funny.
Anyone care to give advice/criticism to a newbie please?

Thank you in advance!

#1 is a nice landscape, although the foreground is a little too dark. The level of interest would be greatly enhanced if you could bring a bit more detail into the shadows. I know there are people in there, but I would like to see them better. Just making the image brighter, overall would probably do the trick.

The composition would also be improved a bit by cropping some of the foreground away so as to bring the horizon down to about the 1/3 mark.

#'s 2 a 3 are just silly.

Welcome to the forum. I think you will enjoy it here!

Glad to hear you've caught the photography bug (be carefull- it can be serious).
Bob has pretty much summed up the right advice for the sunset- the foreground is a little dark. If you wanted, you could change the viewpoint (composition) and get closer to the people on the beach (making them larger) and have the same exposure into the sun. This would result in a lovely silhouette. Just a thought.
As far as advice for #2 & #3: if you are thinking about becoming a comedian, don't quit your day job.
