Don't forget she is using a crop sensor camera.

I had not forgotten. My widest lens was 17mm (17-40) for many years on crop sensors.
If you go back to the film era, 24mm on 135 film was considered very wide...

Y'all pretty much lost me at the first "R". I don't know anything about RAW except that it's a HUGE file and my computer struggled. I can't remember what photo program I was using way back then but the RAW file was more than it & I wanted to deal with.

My DH & I are planning a glamping trip from southern IN to OR & WA this summer. We'll wander around in MT some first then hopefully make our way to Olympic NP and down the coast. I thought a different lens might be advisable for that trip and if so, I'd have time to get it and play around with it some.

I appreciate the advice and unless there is a compelling reason to buy a different lens, I'd rather not spend the money! I had 3 lenses with my Olly which included a 600mm zoom which I loved but soon found out it wasn't the best for landscapes although I got some great critter shots while kayaking with it. I even had a "showing" of photos at a local state park visitor's center. I think they were just desperate for someone to fill their empty cases and it wasn't because of my photographic skills.

I do need to give Otto a rest occasionally and learn more about the manual settings.

Thanks!

For this special trip, I would recommend that you buy a very large capacity SD card. Set your camera to "raw + jpg". This will record your images in both formats. That way you will not only have all your images as jpgs for your immediate use, but you'll also have them as higher quality raw files; something you may one day thank yourself for doing.
