Having previously owned (and sold) the Tamron 150-600 I picked-up a Sigma 150-600 C a few weeks ago. Attached are a few pics taken with it recently. All hand held and at 600mm.
Not up to Canon big white primes standard of course but very good value for money and lightweight for 600mm.

I'm not a BiF shooter but they look more than satisfactory to me, very nice work. I would really like one for Airshows. The company I usually hire from has a few Tamrons, so have not gone for the Sigma's. That is a shame, because the lack of VC while panning is a killer for airshows, when you need shutter speeds of less than 1/200 for proper propellor blur. So it is back to the 100-400L.

If it can nail a Swallow in flight, then the AF is more than adequate. Your processing has always been very good though so it's hard to judge IQ V Processing Skill. 600mm for the money the Tamron/Sigma go for though has surely cost Canon money ? ? ?

The biggest difference for me between the Tamron and Sigma C is the AF - for me the Sigma is a fair bit better. I am amazed how well the Sigma AF's with a 1.4x tc on (840mm f9) although I have yet to test the IQ with this combo.
I used to shoot a Canon 300/2.8 IS mk1 with a 2x tc sometimes and the Sigma at 600mm is certainly better than that IMO.

This lens still maintains autofocus at f/9 with a 1.4x TC? Wow!

Is that the new compatible Sigma converter, which is designed to maintain the AF, or a different converter?

Yes, I am curious too!

I thought all Dslrs only auto focused to f/8, so any teleconverter used would make this lens manual focus only.

Please let us know

Only a few Canon DSLR AF at f8: 7D2, 5D3 and 1 series.
All others AF to f5.6.
Both the Sigma and Tamron 150-600s are f6.3 at 600mm and both AF on f5.6 limited bodies due to some tricky reporting by the lenses.

The Sigma 1.4TC and f6.3 combo also do some tricks to allow AF on f8 AF bodies.

I use the Canon 1.4x tc MkII with the Siggy and it AF's fine considering it is at f9 (the lens fools the Camera's AF system into thinking it is still f8). From everything I have read it appears that Canon tc's works better than Sigma ones for some strange reason.

The Canon 1.4x tc MkII works fine with this lens as explained in post above - it reports f9 but obviously fools the Camera's AF system via the lens.

Here is one I took yesterday with the Siggy at the full 600mm and 1/400 sec hand held, quite impressive IQ for such a relatively cheap lens IMO

I really got greedy with the 'C' this morning - shot with a 1.4x tc (canon MkII) hand held at the full 840mm. Nothing special of course but not so bad considering. I have included the shooting data for those that may be interested. I took these on the 5D3 as it has better high ISO noise performance than my 7D2.

The Tamron 150-600 (at least mine) together with either a Kenko 1.4x or a Sigma 1.4x on a 7DmkII autofocuses so bad that it is unusable (hunts like crazy, back-focuses beyond micro-adjustment). The Canon 1.4x doesn't even fit physically. This could be a big plus for the Sigma 150-600.

I don't know why this happens, as both Tamron and Sigma are at f9 with the 1.4x attached. The bare lens AF is very good, though!

I previously owned the Tamron and tried it once with Kenko 1.4x tc and like you say it was unusable. I am amazed at just how well the Sigma AF's with a 1.4x on seeing it is at f9, and for me being able to use a Canon converter on it is a bonus.
