70D, taken for granted?

There were some new eos models with firmware updates released recently to fix their issues wherein 70d is already more than a year old and it is obvious that some units have serious af issues but the great CANON is still silent about it. I just can't find any reason why this company is not paying attention to the 70D.

because its hardware based? mine is fine, so is a lot of peoples, the effected are the loudest?

I have been vocal that when everything works, this really is an amazing camera with fantastic images and great customisation for the user. My viewfinder focus is a POS, and I have been equally vocal about that.
I think if you enjoy it and have great pictures, sing it loud and proud, but please don't judge others as "loud" who are justifiably complaining about a model where no-one wants to take responsibility or find a solution for the duds. We've tried being quiet and asking nicely, no-one wants to know.

I can't tell if it is hardware or mechanical. Mine was sent twice for repair and got lucky for the second time (but with all the hardships in explaining the issue to the head tech). What is it with Canon? I mean, there were complaints with the 70d but Canon is very silent about it. Where as with the 7d2, which had some comments too, was attended immediately by releasing a firmware update hoping(?) to resolve its issues. 7d2 owners, please don't mock me on this, I just really can't justify how I feel with Canon on how they treated the 70d. I do enjoy my unit now but having it repaired was a real mental torture.

in the UK, we have excellent warranties ( 12 months) on most items, Consumer Contracts Regulations, Sale of Goods Act and so on


bearing in mind, 1% to 3% faulty rate is considered good....... ( 100% of first gen xbox 360, allegedly all faulty in the UK......)

In the case of the 7D2, it's clear they found something specific that could be corrected with software.

With the 70D, they haven't found a problem like that (supposedly). Either it's entirely hardware and copy based, or they haven't corrected anything. I do admit it's kind of odd, apparently the first firmware was flawless? That said, I haven't had any issues with mine...

I think Canon is making a pretty strong delineation between the XD lines and everything else. It seams like the everything else is pretty much you get what you get and unless there is a major flaw found they won't correct it. The XD lines have traditionally gotten features added and more tweaking/break-fix releases.
