Sorry they are chickens...but cute none the less!

This is how they looked when I got them home. I put the button in the brooder as a size comparison. It's about an inch across.

Thanks Craig. It's been a long time since I've raised chicks, so this is a real treat. I lost my last pet chicken a year ago. A friend of mine has been building me a new coop inside my horse barn.

OMG they are so adorable! Keep the pictures coming. They must be so enjoyable to watch. Are these chickens raised for their eggs? I love the color variety too!

Thanks Carol. Yes they are "pets" that will be laying eggs sometime this fall! They are so much fun to watch, and yes there will be more photos!

Now that's funny Sandy!
Knowing you as I do I suspected it would not be the "chicks" others might expect, and those are adorable. Very appropriate and funny captions as well.
My days in Poultry Science were spent mainly with HubbardxHubbard, but we had a few Leghorns around too.

Thanks Steve. Most of these varieties are new for me. I have only raised Rhode Island Reds, and Black Sex Links...which were supposed to be Barred Rocks! If I remember correctly, the BSL are a cross between the Rhode Island Reds and the Barred Rock.

The chicks are about a week old. Yesterday was day 5 since I got them, and I moved them into a larger guinea pig cage. They are having a ball, going up and down to the top levels. Some of them try to fly up there...unsuccessfully, and others fly down after they get to the top.

Thanks Ian and Lester! I am having so much fun with these little duffers! They jump on my arm, sit there for a few seconds, and then jump back into the brooder!
