As an update I received my Spyder2 Pro today and it was VERY well packed.

I recieved my 20D and lens cleaning kit today as well. A layer of bubble wrap across the bottom of the box, the 20D box sitting in the center of the box on top of that, and then packed on all sides and top with the air packets, very well packed, was pleased to see that after reading this thread. ;)

My lens cleaning kit had a bottle of cleaning fluid, which in the 2 days from leaving B&H, apparently completely emptied out of the bottle, leaving me with no cleaning fluid and a rocket blower and lens brush covered in the solution. I called and spoke with someone and the guy said "we'll put a claim in with UPS" and pretty much ended the convo right there. I was kind of put off by this and decided for the $3-4 dollar worth of the fluid ($15 kit) I didnt want to deal with a UPS claim, so called back a few minutes later and got someone else and explained my previous call and not wanting to deal UPS. He was very kind and more or less told me "We have no intention of inconveniencing our customers, we'll deal with UPS, you just sit and wait for a new one to show up." That put me in better spirits and pending that ends well, will make this entire transaction a pleasant experience. ;)

I was just wondering about any deliveries with UPS. I order stuff, you know, on Thursdays and that means that B&H ships it that night and it's in NJ over the weekend. Do they leave the stuff in the trucks where it's 15 degrees at night? Because my stuff sure was cold when I got it. I almost had to do that plastic bag exercise with it for fear the lenses would fog up completely in my humid house. What exactly happens to the stuff when it stays in NJ for a couple of days? I think that's where the fluid could have come out, frozen in a truck.

I too once had a gripe with B & H Photo, turns out that it was not them per say but my frustration and disappointment.

Since then, B & H Photo is my #1 source for video and photo equipment. Their website is second to no one and I hardly ever speak to a customer care person since all my buying is done via web. I have always gotten things packed well, and I live half way around the world from B & H in Hawaii! I do believe that their customer service people are from New York, NY and I always keep that in mind when I do need to call them. People who have dealt with people from New York may back me up on this when I say that New Yorkers have a more straight forward way about them. They will tell you straight out and not put a lot of fluff in what they say.

B&H Photo Video is great, sometimes when we want to point a finger we need to turn towards ourselves........

Suzy, the bottle didnt crack, you could see where it had leaked out under the cap, as there was alot of buildup and residue there, it wasnt something that happened in 48 hours, I think it was shipped this way. But looking at the package and items, theres no way you'd ever know unless you physically opened the package and looked. Oh well, you gotta break a few eggs to make omellettes. ;)

The larger depots are warehouses and the trucks park inside. NJ would be one of those larger depots, guaranteed.

Thanks. Every time I order from B&H, it's at a time that I can't get delivery until Monday or Tuesday. It's getting quite ridiculous. I just ordered again yesterday. I doubt I'll get it until Monday. Just my luck. :(

There is a cure. Just don't order after Wednesday. I think I do that because I get brave by then. :)

Follow-up to my original post:

Got my 20D replacement today. Its perfect. I had to pay for another one while they processed the returned one for a refund (still pending even though they got it this morning).

What a nice feeling it is to finally hold one of these in my hand. Will write more about it in another thread.

B&H gets a bit of my business. I have noticed that UPS seems to beat up the B&H packages quite a bit. Never had a problem with the contents though. I would think a camera would not come out of the box prior to shipping.

Come to think of it UPS bent the leg on the background support I ordered from Amvona....that package looked like it was used to hold up a big brown truck while they changed a flat....

Congrats! Sounds like you are ready to go.

I like my stuff nice. My comment to my 2 little boys when they ruin my carpet or chairs or anything (like spilling cinnamon sticks all over the back of my car) "I can't have anything nice if I share with you." But it's just stuff. I shouldn't sweat it so much. You got your replacement, I vaccumed the car. See, everything's good. :)
