My copy has arrived today and wow-wee this really is one hell of a real kick bum lens! Out of 70 test shots, I've managed to nail the focus 64 times wide open (but my 6d viewfinder is fitted with the eg-s in it) No need to stop down for sharpness. it's brilliant wide open.

Kind Regards, Raymond

Looks awesome! I have the first generation Samyang 135mm for sale if anyone is interested.

So happy that they brought it back.

I also found 135mm easy to focus. I've even shot live shows with it, no problem.

Hi

How do you focus with the samyang 135? using liveview? magic lantern? or with the viewfinder?
I'm considering getting it but not sure about the focusing. I have 35 and 12mm and other manual lenses.. but nothing like 135mm..

My 6d does have the EG-S viewscreen fitted and had it fitted as soon as I bought the camera brand new. After doing a bit of target practice at shooting car number plates coming down the road, I managed to nail the focus about 9/10. But when it came to focusing on my mum's dog's eyes @ f/2 (post #7), the only way I could nail the focus was by "focus bracketing" ie by slightly move the focusing ring each way with my finger.
Or yes you can use magic lantern and I have it installed and in my opinion there's nothing wrong with it. I prefer to use the viewfinder purely out of choice.

I've never had problems 30 years ago with manual lenses, so i wasn't afraid of buying these Samyang lenses as their are some pros like: you're never have to worry about the aperture blades and motor packing up in future unlike some canon lenses I've owned. :)

Kind Regards, Raymond
