I first met Curtis J. "Kojo" Morrow at a Chicago Alliance of African American Photographers meeting last winter. Today I had the pleasure of photographing him on the street in Bronzeville for People of Bronzeville. Mr Morrow was a Buffalo Soldier and fought in the Korean war. I remember reading about the Buffalo soldiers as a kid. To meet one in real life is like history coming alive.

I've used nearly all of the Canon's 50's for years, 2x50L, 50/1.4, bunch of nifty fifties, i was mad about trading 50L for Sony A7 body (which was really crap decision) and struggling with nifty fifty i got a try for 50 STM for portraits and all lifestyle photos. Was curious because even nifty fifty could produce stellar results, but the auto-focus was rubbish, and the front element broke really easily - in my case around four times. I can say it's a hell of a deal, one of the best lenses you can buy for the money. Incredibly sharp, lightweight, cheap and fast. Over last six months i've made lots of portrait shoots, documentaries, movie clips and product shots and i can easily say that it's the best 50 out there. The L is stellar and i would want to have it once, but it's really heavy, this one produces nice renderings and is pleasure to photograph. The olny thing is that it does not work very well with EOS 3 film body.

Some time ago i've made product shoot for my girlfriends jewelry brand and the 50 turned out to be the most used lens. The results are astinishing, quality-wise i can't see a drastic difference between 50 and ten times more expencive (in my country) TS-E 90/2.8.

This is Emanuel Duncan. I had the pleasure of photographing him for my People of Bronzeville project. Mr Duncan was a Buffalo Soldier in the U.S. Army.

well I bought the lens again. I hope I get one good this time and not as inconstant as the first copy I had. I just couldnt pass up the $90 shipped for the refurb sale canon has on it now. It will mainly be for my SL1 and video. Since I already got the Sigma 50 for my 1D
