Nice, I tried your settings in Lr 5.7 on an Fuji raw file. I get better results using the 'old' method. Shot on an X-T1 using the XF 16-55 F2.8 lens @2.8, 16mm 1/100

It seems I've either been too content on my sub-par editing or just not paying attention. Went back and checked the old method. Actually, copied your same settings since the shots were similar. Definitely more details than my previous edit. Looks like I need to pay more attention sharpening, thanks for the response!

Plenty sharp. Although not as good as a 5D3 with a tuned in Sigma 50 Art, but I guess that is as much to do with the difference in resolution as anything else.

The little Fuji's punch well above their weight as far as I'm concerned.

Well I just went back into my lightroom catalogue there and had a play about with some old XT1 images applying the sharpening with 100% detail as noted above and I must say the results are on the whole good (and better than what I was getting previously). I definitely find that shots that were taken with flash are very sharp but natural light shots run into some issues sometimes for some reason, not sure why. Also when I apply the camera calibration profiles in lightroom (provia, velvia etc) sometimes they have a tendency to make the eyelashes go from being sharp and defined to a bit dark and undefined, again not sure why.

Cant argue with this though -

23mm - 100% Crop

One plus to the fuji... can you record video with the back LCD off and viewing only through the viewfinder?? That would work out very well for my kids recitals.

I'm pretty sure I did this at my kids Chorus performance, but will check when I get home. Wasn't that big of an issue as I was setup in the back by the light booth. The X-T1 gets knocked for video some, but it's good enough for things like this. Audio is from a Tascam DR-05 that my wife had closer to the front. On another note, jump to 11:40 and check out how that DR-05 picked up that big Djembe drum :)

Looking at the camera calibration in Lr and the blacks seem darker, almost like there is less DR in that area, probably adding to the look of film a little. Try pushing you blacks up by 25 and see [and perhaps your shadows a little too].
