Anyone using Yongnuo 600 with Yongnuo ST-E3?

Thinking of buying 2 flashes and controller.... Non pro use.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

I have two 600s but without the controller. I use one 600 as a controller for now until I can afford one. Everything works good, I haven't ran into any problem. It is much more reliable than my YN622cs Im looking into selling the 622cs to help fund the trigger for the 600s. I haven't had a chance to test HSS. When Finals are over, i'll have more time to really test it out.

You mean, you have one of them flashes always on-camera?

Can you elaborate? My 622Cs are far from unreliable.

I bought a 600EX RT and the E3 from Amazon 2 days ago, I'm on my fourth set off Duracell already! I'd like to say it's because I shot 8 weddings in 48 hrs but I'd be lying. And very tired. And rich.

It appears that the forums are right and Amazon are chocking the bad reviews. (I do love a good conspiracy)

The odd thing is I've been to the Yongnuo European website and they don't appear to have the 600 listed amongst their flashes!

Here, look for yourself - http://yongnuo.eu …hop.browse&category_id=13 (external link)

Can anyone please shed any light on this?

Ta.

The message I sent to Yongnuo - 'Hello. I've just purchased 3 of your 600ex rt speedlights. I appear to be having an rapid battery drain problem. After a few firings the connection between the 600rt and the E3 RT goes dead. I've changed batteries 3 times in 48hrs! I've fired the flash about 25 times during that period. Current level shows about half charge left?! I'm using Duracell alkaline straight out of the pack. I have a green light for the link and a blue light for the flash ready. I can reboot and after a few seconds they work for about 4-6 firings and then the recycle noise stops and the flash fails to fire any more. I need these units to be reliable. Can you please advise, thank you.'

I'll let you know if I get a response.

Rupert

On further investigation I've visited the Yongnuo US Amazon page -

http://www.amazon.com …1FMTDMC210P&redirect=true (external link)

And they don't appear to list the 600EX RT there either?!

The plot thickens...

It's still listed on Amazon, just not in the Yongnuo storefront. <link> (external link)

Can you elaborate? My 622Cs are far from unreliable.

Every time I took the 622cs out for some OCF I would have issues with it triggering. Last time I used it I couldnt get then to work right, I ended up switching the 622 that was on my flash with the one that was one camera and then it started to work again. I was shooting a model at the beach and the sun was rapidly setting so the whole experience threw me off, so I never used them again. Turns out I just needed to clean the pins(after I posted this) now they both work, but I already moved on the the 600 system.

I lied to Yongnuo about buying 3, sorry. In my defence I did say in my OP that I only had the one unit.

I had one to begin with but ordered another to run some comparisons which I did yesterday and I have to say the second one seems to be working fine. I've ordered a Yanny to run some further tests and cross-make comparisons.

To update you on the first unit that was giving me all the trouble; I think it may be an intermittent problem. I fired off the strobe 30 or so times this morning, it stuttered but after a couple of reboots it seems to be working fine!

I kept the battery door open over night on the first trouble unit, so I'll keep it closed tonight and get back to you. On the second unit I kept the door closed and all appears to be fine. I hit the DOF button on my 5DIII and fired the modelling light, the flash takes a while to recycle but fine after.

There may be a QC problem at Yongnuo, with some Monday morning and some Friday afternoon units getting out into the world. I guess this is the risk you take when buying replicas.

I'll keep you posted.

The second 600 that I ordered from Amazon through 'Andoer' has worked flawlessly for 24 hrs. Battery door closed, modelling light activated.

I'm returning the 'faulty' 600 to Amazon and the original supplier 'Xtron-Tech'.

I've ordered 2 more units from Andoer via Amazon. I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for the update. Looks like there may be a QC issue.

Cheers,
