Okay, so, a week into my little experiment and I'm impressed with my working Yongnuos. It's clear now that the first unit I had was faulty, the other 3 are working perfectly. They do seem to be a little battery thirsty but I had a portrait session in the studio Friday morning and they performed flawlessly; 150 firings and not a missed beat. I use a Canon 600EX-RT and ST-E3-RT as my primary unit, I use the Canon as my key light and the Yongnuo's as my rim and fill lights where necessary. But I shot with the Yongnuos only on Friday and they're great, I'm happy to recommend them. If you are gonna be a heavy user then battery packs might be a consideration.
Attached is a shot from Friday morning. I was helping my client to relax!
2 Neewer soft boxes as rim and fill and a diffused Westcott Apollo Orb for my key.
