I'm checking in on my Mom this weekend, and will be passing through the Everglades. I'll only have a couple of hours in the morning to explore. I'm planning on taking I-75, but could take 41 if that gives me better opportunities.

So, where would you try and hit off of either of those routes. I'm coming from the Gulf side, heading east.

Looking mostly for birding opportunities.

Thanks!

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner...I can't say what's best this time of year, but I visit Marco Island every winter and drive across 41. Quite a few places along there, but in particular check out Turner River Road north for a couple miles from 41. It's a dirt road that runs along a canal / river with plenty of bird and alligator opportunities. Also a bit closer to the west side is the 10,000 Islands refuge, there's three story observation tower you can go up in and shoot from. Naturally, depends on time of day / activity, and I'm not up on what the bird activity is this time of year.
