Aero meets Mr. Froggy for the first time.

Aero didn't know what to make of it and every time the frog jumped, Aero jumped. Until the frog jumped the wrong way and ended up in Aero's mouth. Aero did NOT like that and spit the frog like he bit a hot pepper, hacking and gagging while the frog merrily jumped on his way. I think the frog, as frogs often do, peed in Aero's mouth lol.

EDIT: This is actually a toad, and toads are toxic to dogs. If you see your dog sniffing around one, please get your dog away from it or teach it to leave them alone. Aero learned from this episode to give them a wide berth now.

Cute. Aero met what appears to be an American Toad. Your location states London, Ontario so it would be either that or a Fowler's Toad. Be aware that both species are toxic to dogs, especially if ingested. Contact with the Fowler can be particularly problematic for dogs.

Sometimes not taking a photograph can be as problematic as taking one. - Alex Webb

Thanks for the info. I noticed he was quite curious about it and would follow it around a bit, so I grabbed the shot just before it jumped right into his mouth. He spit it out right away and definitely did not want to come near it again, so a new lesson learned for him.

Other than the slight gagging and spitting, he appears to have no ill effects from his encounter, especially after I put the hose on him a bit.

It was quite small for a toad, which is why I thought it was a frog. I read up about toads and dogs and I never knew they were so toxic to dogs, so I appreciate the info.
