I understood what he said. I was talking of the 24-70..
I think the 24-105 is the perfect weight, not too heavy not too light. Although, which one would i rather have? That's a different question :)

I initially got the 24-105 in part because of the reports of the 24-70 being such a brick. I'm not a big muscular kinda guy so I figured it would be too heavy for me for sure. I guess were I hefting it for hours on end it might be.

It's interesting -- I had the 24-70 before I had the 24-105 (I was shooting with the 30D) and it was one of my least-used lenses.

I got the 24-105 as a kit lens with my 5D Classic and it became, outside of special wildlife/sports uses (taken with a 1D3 body), my most-used lens (used pretty exlusively with the 5D). After that, it's a close tie between the 24-70, the 16-35, the 85L, the 100 macro, and the 50 1.4.

I bought 24-70 first and it was my first L and i still love it a lot, and i bought 24-105 because i got very great price that time so tempting and i couldn't resist, now my 24-105 is the most #1 used lens in my collection even i love 24-70 more.

Love the textures of the sand dunes in the third. Great shot!

Here's a couple from last weekend...

I personally love the first one, when she saw it she loved it and said "Typical Girl" :-)

Both taken with my 5D Mark II

Here's a crop from a shot I took a couple weeks back. So far I love this lens, it's my new walk around.

I'm really loving this lens, perfect for days out - and much more. I do prefer primes but I can't fault the IQ here or the versatility.

I wanna pick this lens up for travel and/or hiking. Is it decently wide on a 1.3x crop?

Call it medium-wide -- probably really good for most scenes, but sometimes it sure would be nice to have a 17-40 (or a 16-35).
