I posted this in Wildlife talk, but got nothing, so I figured I'd try here....

I'm checking in on my Mom tomorrow, and will be passing through the Everglades. I'll only have a couple of hours in the morning to explore. I'm planning on taking I-75, but could take 41 if that gives me better opportunities. So, where would you try and hit off of either of those routes. I'm coming from the Gulf side, heading east. Looking mostly for birding opportunities. Thanks!

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Heya,

Google these for locations:

Anhinga Trail
Eco Pond
Mahogany Hammock & Vicinity
Mrazek Pond
Paurotis Pond (requires really long lens)

Very best,

Thanks MalVeaux. I got started a bit later than I intended, so I ended up going to the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp. It was pretty good. As soon as I entered the park/boardwalk, there were 2 swallow-tailed kites, but they were too far to get any shots of, but they're always a treat to watch.

I did get some good shots of a RSH, a couple of alligators, great egrets, and assorted herons. All in all, a place worth visiting.

Tamiami Trail will take you through Everglades NP, Big Cypress, 10,000 Islands and several state parks and forests .The scenic road at Monroe Station is worth a trip and Oasis Visitor Center is great for gators .
