Five days a week I go for a dawn walk in the park with my wife and I usually I don't take my camera, out for exercise more than anything else.
However a few days ago I found myself tripping over Yellow crowned Night Herons and they are at the same place every day, take the camera get the shots all is good.
Two days later we are back in the park...you guessed it no camera and we come across a Great Egret in a tussle with a snake. The snake is only 6-8 inches long but boy is he putting up a fight, the Egret had it in his beak but the snake was wrapped around his beak and neck and the Egret was trying desperately to shake it loose. In time the snake dropped to the ground but the Egret had the tail in its beak still wriggling but in short time it went down, then the hunt was on and again in short time it found the snake and down it went.
After seeing a photo a couple of years ago with just this scene I have dreamed of getting that shot...and I blew it. From now on the camera go's with me and the wife will have to carry my flash......if she wants me to go for walks with her.
