My Mark 3 shutter speed defaults to 200 when I am attempting to shoot using the Mini and Flex for speedlights. Is there an over ride somewhere? I have searched my manual and the web but Can't find it!

Thanks
Jeff

I found the external flash area (settings on mark3) but I can only set to HSS when the speed light is on camera, it is grayed out when the speedlight is hooked up to the Flex and the mini is on camera.

Does anyone use a Mark3 and a canon flash for HSS?

Thanks!

Sorry I have no info on the pocket wizard line I only have 1 PW2.

I use the CellsIIC to get my HSS and it works like a charm everytime no misfires.

I don't think this is a PW thing, but a canon Mark 3 issue......

Um, I use Odins which make HSS from a 5D III easy too.

Have you tried the PW Wiki pages or the PC software that comes with the Mini & Flex?

Also:
"If you are using a Canon flash as an on-camera flash, attached to the transmitting radio, the Master flash needs to be set to HSS via the flash's menu. It is not necessary to set remote Canon flashes to HSS." from PW.

Make sure all your contacts on the hotshoe are clean, that's the only time I had a problem with getting into HSS on my 5D MkIII

The YN622Cs pass HSS to the receiver with the 5D3

EDIT try looking in the flash settings on the 5D3 when the trigger is on to see if you can set it to HSS.

First of all thanks for the info, I am trying to learn all this so I appreciate it.

So there are others out there that have a canon 5d mark 3, Flex and mini triggers and Canon flashes and are able to shoot with faster than 200 shutter speed?

I have the canon 580 EX II set to HSS, I set my shutter speed on my mark3 to 1000, but when I push the shutter it shoots at 200.

I can do HSS only if the flash is on the camera.....whats the point of that, I need off camera flash
