Had the Art version for about 3 months. Did not find it to be that much better than 18-55mm OSS when step down. AF was much worse than Sony 50mm 1.8 on a6000.
Also wanted a bit wider as well. 16mm lens w less distortion would be nice. Might decide to go fujifilm x-e2 soon due to lack of good reasonable price mid range zoom w AF on Sony a6000
It's interesting to read that, considering that the 19mm is a very popular lens and has gotten good reviews in a number of places. I'm not suggesting you're wrong here, but it is helpful to see a different opinion. I was considering getting the Sigma lens in hopes of finding something that's a bit sharper and wider in terms of f-stops than the kit lens for landscape photography.
Interestingly enough, I've seen a review on Youtube that clearly shows the Sony 20mm WA lens is worse than the Sigma in terms of overall performance. The Sony costs $50.00 more. You would think that the extra 50 clams should bring you better performance, but in this case, it looks like you're paying the extra just for the brand name.
For the time being, I've ordered a Fotodiox EOS-to-NEX adapter so I can mount my Tokina 11-16mm wide-angle lens. Since I would be doing mostly landscape photography with such a lens, I'm not too concerned about AF speed or accuracy. It's been my experience that most of the time, landscape photos are shot at, or very close to infinity anyway, so it would be easier just to switch the lens to manual focus and set it to infinity.
As an alternative to the Sigma lens, I might get a Samyang 12 or 14mm, or possibly buy an old 20mm manual lens and mount it on a focal reducer.
In any case, B&H now say that they're getting more 19mm lenses soon, suggesting that the backorder problem may have been resolved.
