Thanks for the replies, Gang, and Levina, I'm glad that I've been able to be more active with the forum, although unfortunately I don't have any gear with me and very limited transportation, so I haven't been able to get out and "capture" for a year or so...:(

Anyway, good to be back hanging out here in POTN/AMASS!

OK, back to one of my questions:

Suppose we have an image in our gallery that we haven't don't feel comfortable about "fitting" it into a particular thread, but we value the photo and would like to put it into our AMASS gallery without it being posted to a specific thread.

I had thought of there being a "Gallery Post" thread, but I wouldn't want it to gobble up band-width...

So, is there a way to add photos to our gallery that aren't presently on a POTN/AMASS thread by, say, uploading directly to the gallery? And, say we resize an image in our library to the new image size "rules" that is in a POTN thread in the "old" size, what would be the best way to get the new size into the gallery?

Tony,

I think that perhaps you are missing (what seems to be) Pekka's main reason for having the "gallery" feature. I believe that reason is to generate more interest in POTN's threads. The whole gallery thing is programmed to direct people to the threads in which one's gallery images are posted. Getting people to see the threads seems to be the primary point of having the galleries. What you are asking for would seem to completely undermine the very purpose for which we have the galleries.
_______________ _______________ _______________ _______________

By the way, if you have a photo you want to put into your gallery, and need a thread to submit it to, I suggest the A-Z no rules thread:
https://photography-on-the.net …read.php?t=1252425&page=1

It's really easy to find a way to "name" your photo with whatever letter you need to so that it will fit into the sequence. For instance, if I have a photo of a duck in flight, I could make it start with: D - duck, W - wings, M - mallard, C - california duck, I - in the air, F - feathers, P - plumage, A - Anas platyrhynchos, B - bird, U - up there, O - over the water, G - green head, etc, etc, etc.

When we first switched to the new format, I wanted to build a gallery quickly, so I put a bunch of photos into the A-Z thread. It helped me get up to the 50 or so photos I wanted rather quickly and effortlessly.

The Colors Game is another thread to which it is easy to add images:

So is the Celebrity Game thread:

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Well said, Tom!

Funny, I was very active in a lot of those Competitions threads for some time -- if people wonder why I show more than 50,000 posts, well that's a place one could look!
