Very cool comparison. Thank you!

No prob. Did this for myself too. Doesn't make sense to keep both lenses.

Landscape or exterior is not my main interest so this cheapo Canon FD20mm is enough for me.

But my thoughts when i had a Rokinon 14mm was that it's too wide. Then I bought the Canon 17-40L and as far as i remember I was happy with it.

We go to the disney parks (Anaheim or Orlando) at least once a year...skipped last year b/c Charlotte was born, but will be going again in June this year. I've brought everything from a one prime set-up to a full bag of gear....depends on what you intend to shoot. If its mostly shots of the family, then a 35mm equivalent FOV set-up is all you need. Looking back at my old albums, the majority of them are at 35mm. If you intend to take photos of the actual parks (which I usually do), you might want to bring something wider. Rarely have I needed anything longer than 50mm though.

The key is to have a good bag. All of the rides can accomodate a bag, so its a matter of how much weight you're willing to carry all day. Assuming Callum is still in a stroller, you can hang your gear on that when walking.

This is pretty good advice, especially about the stroller and having a lens 50mm or less as a workhorse.

I was a bit happier doing Magic Kingdom with my 6D/40mm pancake than I was my 60D/S30 1.4. Most of the happiness came from the weight savings in the 85ish degree, humid weather.

I used the 135L during the Electric Light Parade, that was the only reason I brought long glass that trip and it worked out.

We're going on Friday and I'm favoring the a6000/PZ16-50 setup over the a7r/55 1.8 at the moment just because it is so stupid lightweight. IQ could win the day, though. Gametime decision, most likely.

Here's two from Raglan Road in Disney Springs from December. The place is fantastic, but an absolute dungeon to shoot in. ISO 8000 for the gal in green, who had a green light on her.

If you hit Disney go super early. It's extremely humid down here that time of year. It will be extremely busy there in the summer, so I'd recommend doing some online research and getting fast passes as much as possible to avoid long lines. There are strategies of what rides to hit and when.

There are a lot of nice areas for landscape and wildlife close to Orlando. Do a little research into Kissimmee area.

Sage advice here, FastPass saves you hours waiting in lines. The humidity is real.

The only thing better than FastPass is having access to the underground tunnels at Magic Kingdom--which I may or may not have used with guests in tow when I worked for Disney.

Here's one taken at Raglan Road that didn't need too much PS voodoo to look ok.

After I posted it to Flickr, the pic got a few random likes inside of 30 minutes for some reason.

My best guess--everyone likes "Santa"

Robert, I have the CV 12mm f5.6, the Sigma 12-24mm II f4.5-5.6, the Zeiss ZM 15mm f2.8, the Canon 16-35mm f4, the Zeiss ZE 18mm f4 and ZE 21mm f2.8. Of all of them I use the 18mm the least. There's nothing wrong with it--it's just a little slower at f4. What I'm reading is that the new lenses are lighter and smaller to fit the E-mount, but they are not significantly better than their siblings. As long as the ones I have function well on my Sony or Canon cameras. The Loxia-Batis versions don't charm me.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Anything wider than 20mm is a pretty specialized limited use lens for me....based on the way I've used UWA zooms in the past anyway. So I'm less inclined to spend too much coin here. I'll probably play the rokinon 14mm lottery sometime in the future and call it a day.

The Batis 18 seems a bit odd to me. AF at this focal length isn't really a priority, and given what I'm seeing between the Batis and Loxia so far in terms of flare control, I think a Loxia type lens would have made more sense. I'm betting we see a Loxia 15 sometime down the line.

Nice shots Michael. It's nice that the a7rII performs so well at high ISO...I used to basically put my camera away when the sun comes down, but that may not be the case next time we go.

We're going in June this year...first time not going in the off-season since my eldest is now in the second grade and gets 2hrs of homework a night. I'm bringing the RX1RII and the a7rII with the Loxia 21 and maybe the batis 85 since its pretty light. I suspect the RX1RII will get the most use.

Parks are too crowded to use anything longer than 50mm as the parks are so crowded that you'll almost always have someone block your shot. 135mm does work well for parades though.

Album of various shots from past disney trips for those who are interested:

You have the ultimate parks setup, IMO. I'm excited to see more from your Loxia, what a great tool to have in the bag! And of course the rxrii was pretty much made for stuff like Disney, museum trips, and so on. Just silly IQ!

I go back and forth on adding the 85 Batis, maybe in a few years when the kids are old enough to be doing sports, dance, martial arts or whatever. The FE 55 has been a fantastic "compromise" lens for me--capable of so much, but maybe not perfect for any one thing. (Ok, maybe it is perfect on the baseline for basketball)

Two hours of homework for a second-grader per night is no bueno!

Nice to see Sony bring some affordable stuff to market after the sticker shock of the GM lenses.

Makes me wonder if a budget friendly FF camera might be on the way soon (a6?)
