Just in case my request got lost in the image posts can anyone that owns the FE 16-35 and Batis 25 and Loxia 21 or any two of those lenses post a side by side photo so that I can see how they compare for size. I know their dimensions but its easier to see in an image

the FE 16-35 is about the size of the EF 16-35 but with no adapter.

Thank-you

Trying to work out what to do lens lineup wise. Option 1 - loxia 21, FE 28, FE 55 (plus rok24, sig35/85). Option 2 - 16-35, batis 25, fe 55 (plus rok24, sig35/85). Option 3 - just keep what i have and not have a small landscape option for florida.

Also the voigt 15 e mount puts another option there.

Gas confusion

Haha. Yep. Don't forget about a possible Batis 18. For now, I would lean towards FE 16-35 (loses the adapter of EF), Lox 21, FE 55 (can switch to aps-c mode for more reach) and the rok 24 for astro.

Heres a Pano taken at the same location of the shot previous. 3 shots at 16mm. In hindsight I should have shot in portrait mode as the resulting image has odd dimensions

The 16-35 would have to go to fund the loxia I think. Also im being put off the loxia a bit by reports that the focus throw is short and its difficult to focus critically. Not sure if that's just BS though. When I was out with the zoom today I mainly used 16mm but trialled 21mm on it and I reckon I could live with it

Carlo - Can you post an image of the Batis 25, Batis 85 and Loxia 21 side by side?

Eddie that shot is phenomenal. Wow.

Yes I'll take some photos tonight, but can spoil it for you now. The Loxia is a hair longer than the batis, but the batis is a lot fatter, and as such, takes up more room in a typical camera bag. The loxia is similar in dimensions to the FE 55

Concerned about it. The focus throw is like 7mm so yeah very short. Will see.

It really is hard to focus critically....I have some OOF shots at F8 lol.

That's my hesitation with bringing this to my own trip to Florida. It's compact, but not a run n gun travel lens at all. Then again I've only had a few days with the lens. I've found that with MF lenses, once you develop the muscle memory for a particular lens, you can nail shots very quickly.

Back when I was using EF glass with the original a7r, I could nail the focus very quickly with MF on those lenses, and the focus rings suck on DSLR lenses.

Carlo, does the focus come to a hard stop right at the infinity mark or just before? I've read it's important to be right on. Something to check out when I get mine.

$250 nifty fifty sounds good. $1,200 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 doesn't. Canon has their 70-300 f/4-5.6 for $450 and Nikon has theirs fpr around the same.

on paper, the 70-300 looks more spec'd like the 70-300L. It has aspherical and ED elements, moisture resistant, and a "G" lens. Pretty sure the non L canon doesnt have either. MTF charts look good, might downgrade my 70-400G, as it's MASSIVE. If the MTF's are as good as I think, it'll work for my long lens landscape solution.

This is the kind of info I need to be reading. Thanks for confirming. The reason I was drawn to the batis 25 was that it could double as a landscape lens if I leave the 16-35 at home. I would get rid of the fe28 if I had the batis
