I guess everyone has seen the RX10iii announcement=Sony has destroyed the super-zoom/bridge world.
Anybody interested in the affordable FE 50/1.8-----only thing I'd wished for was more blades.
What about the FE 70-300???? So close! I keep thinking what if it had been 100-400 ??????????????????

Sony's becoming too spazzy...

well the 50 1.8 is ok.. I can recommend the a6000 and the 50 1.8 to newbies.

Eddie and Travis,

Would you remind me again what sort of "sock" or cover you use to eliminate light leaks for really long exposures? I've been doing searches on this thread, but can't find your posts.

Typically when I see excellent advice like that I copy it to my iPad's notes, but failed to do it then.

Thanks in advance. :)

David, I bought a cheap neoprene lens pouch from ebay and sliced the bottom so that it slipped over the lens. I chose one that was just bigger than the lens so that it was a snug fit

Eddie: As requested, size comparisons between Batis 25 and Loxia 21

Biggest difference is the girth of the lenses. The batis is short, but chubby. The Loxia takes up very little room in a bag. Its similar in size to the FE 55.

Arrrrg, what to do?????
I just checked my Samyang 14mm e-mount-
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …m_e_14mm_f_2_8_ed_as.html (external link)
It has NO filter threads :( Well that sucks.

there's a filter mount made by samyang for that lens. It takes bigger filters though (150mm I think). It doesn't have threads as its a bulbous end

I've acknowledged the DoF issue but the light gathering is there - and if you do 35F2 equiv closeups you only getting a few cm of DoF so it can work if you need / want that effect- not perfect but gets you mostly to what you want - a sRaw type file size without the horrendous side effect of horrible shadow detail.

With the A7rii the ability to gather light is secondary in importance. The ISO tolerance is so good that I don't really have to consider aperture for light gathering. So for me aperture is purely a perspective and effect issue. And I don't really do close ups, especially with wide lenses. Rather, I shoot subjects that are farther away from the lens (e.g. environmental portraits). That's where a stop's difference in aperture starts to count.

Well finally had some time to work through my short vacation pics from Morro Bay CA. Had just received the 6300 day before so really had no time to settle in to it.

Have to say I like it but if it were just 6000 to 6300 i probably would not have moved to it. However the environment is much more cohesive with the A7r2 ie menus focus etc. For that aspect it is a great team as I wear both cameras at the same time. I used to do this with the 1dmk3 and 6D .... so much lighter of a world now. I used to feel the A7r2 and 6000 were a real brain freeze switching so now I am much more comfortable.

It focuses much better than the 6000 and seems to be more intuitive focus as well. So for Focus A++ for Environment/software features A++ it feels better physically so A but for low light ... no I am not impressed with ISO 1600+ and really dont see outdoor shots to be any better vs the 6000 in that area. Yes I would have liked stabilization but perhaps they are going to do a A7Sport series with that in it.

Overall I am happy would have like to wait for the price to drop to 700 bucks or so but just so these cameras work together better is a good value to me. Going to send the 6000 off to be IR modded.

Some weekend shots rest are on flickr mix of A7r2 and 6300 really most of the weekend was the FE70-200 on the 6300 and CV15v3 on the A7r2

Haha. I've seen some sale ads here and on FM that make me cringe. I'm talking about photos of gear that were taken with my mom's flip phone.

Cool shot. There's something appealing about the imperfect quality of the bokeh that vintage glass produces.

Looks good to me. Yes a little lighter than your usual work, but does a better job of showing the detail in the bumper. The downside to that type of aesthetic is that it crushes the blacks...depends on whether you favor detail vs style/aesthetics!

Thank you very much for the input buddy ;)

I managed a look at my Flickr on the workshop PC too today & it looks close enough not to notice at least!!

I received my Loxia 21mm lens and it's a beauty! The heft surprised me a bit but in a good way. Very well balanced on the a7RII. I love the all metal body and hood. The focus is very smooth with the right amount of tension. Focusing will take some practice! I shot with the lens handheld around my home wide open and up to f5.6. Will give it a proper test tomorrow.

Awesome. Congrats! Yes despite its size, its pretty heavy. Very dense lens.

Thank you Carlo! Did you receive a signed quality control card in your kit? Also, how did you go about testing for sharpness/decentering?
