Looks like the manufactures of Eclipse fluid are warning A7X users not to use it to clean Sony A7X sensors, it can remove the coating on the sensor with prolonged cleaning.

Better late than never... today I got my batis 85mm. Great asset to my batis 25 and loxia 50 who all fit in an ona bowery bag. Also happy with the sy135 although I hope there will be a batis/loxia/gm in the future.

Picture of yesterday sunset with the loxia 50mm

Some reports were quoting the 85GM AF is noisy. Don't know how true.

Read that a few places. Guy Mancuso on FM forums reported it too. Its apparently a metal grinding noise as if its not lubricated properly. Others have said it goes away after 500 or so shots

FM has a post on the sharpness of the lens:

it's shaping up to be a mini otus...... sharp at 1.4 all the way to the corners...... wow

The lens looks amazing but the grinding is concerning. People are reporting scratches being visible due to it. Fred Miranda wrote "After testing it for many hours, I checked the inner barrel with a flash light. When moving the focusing distance towards the infinity (MF), it's possible to see where the damage is being done. I got some scratches there."

What is it with Sony QC?

EDIT - He also wrote "I just did some tests at infinity and the FE 85/1.4GM is incredible to the very corners at f/1.4!" so if you can get a copy without issues it will be an amazing lens

The "GM" series is abbreviation of "Grind Master".

That's why I almost never want to be an early adopter.

Something about this shot, keep going back and looking at it. Maybe the contrast or something? Got a nice look to it

Yeah looks like a very good lens given the speed. I did see some wide open samples with a fair amount of LoCA, easy to remove but it is there. Would be great to see a side by side comparison between the GM and the Otus.
