It seems that the older I get, the easier I can withstand the impulsiveness (read: my brain wins against my heart). And everything that "visits" my brain, has to pass the "justifiable test". There's a clear difference between "want to have" and "need to have". xpfloyd wrote in post #17981760 I thought I had my gas under control about a month ago. There's a clear difference between "want to have" and "need to have". ![]() It's gotten harder as I've gotten older because I actually have money now lol. It also helps to shoot for money. That's actually what funds (almost) all of my gear. A thousand dollar lens doesn't sound so bad when you can earn that much on the side in a month shooting extracurricularly. jocau wrote in post #17981804 That will never happen. I bet you will sell your Batis 1.8/85 (or any of the other Batis lenses you own) within 6-12 months. ![]() The cool thing about photography is that the gear retains a lot of residual value over time. So you can own something for a couple of months, sell it and get most of what you paid for it back, and spend a little more to upgrade to something better if you like. Do this over the course of a couple of years and you can accumulate a nice kit spending money incrementally over time. Lenses retain more of their value than cars do! They're also not as big of a losing proposition as cellphones, which cost $800 a pop and are basically worth nothing when we replace them every two years. focalpointsphoto.com
