Took the P3 out to pelican cove this morning. Tall tripod indeed.
So how you liking that P4, Gene.
Worth the upgrade from the P3? Is the camera on it higher Rez? I can see wanting more than 12MP myself. For stills.

I'm really pleased with the P4 Nadim. For me it was worth the upgrade coming from the Standard. Not so sure if that would have held true if I'd had the P3 Professional. I have to say though that the "Auto Track" feature is awesome and I like the reassurance "obstacle avoidance" offers.

Have you looked into the other apps for the Phantom? Litchi and AutoPilot both have a lot of features not found even with the DJI Go app which allows things like planning a route of waypoints before you ever take off and to select your points of interest you want the camera to focus on as you fly by.

What I'd really like is a better lens and sensor. I get that we're spoiled with the Sony A7RII, hehe, but going over today's stills from Pelican Cove..Even at ISO 100, the noise is quite visible. Not sure what the solution is for stills with higher quality sensors.

Just posted these in the SoCal thread, since they aren't really Sony shots, but what the hell :)

Point Vicente lighthouse.

Headphone amp. Something else I need. :)

Yep headphone amp with an onboard digital analog converter. It's basically an exmore sensor for headphones.

I have this DAC with built-in headphone amp (external link). Normally I don't trust products from China, but these guys are an exception since they are highly praised on the head-fi forum (external link). Couldn't get the USB driver working in Windows 7 though (crappy VIA driver) while USB works perfectly driverless in OS X. Because of that it's connected via optical (toslink cable) which works great in Windows 10.

Nice! I probably should have got that one.
Actually I do own a DAC/Amp at my PC for my headphones: The Element by JDS Labs (external link). It's pretty good. :) But, the thing I like about Carlo's - why I want one - is its portability design for smart phones.

Minolta Celtic 200mm f4 (first shot is a pretty sizeable crop, especially for an a7S  )

I apologize, but this was a data entry error, which did not get caught as quickly as normal due to our being closed for Passover: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passover (external link)

Sony announced a price drop so we lowered the price, but the 4/24 - 4/30 rebate did not come off.

Had we received only one or 2 orders, we could have accommodated the error, but the number we received made this impossible.

Per our terms and conditions: http://www.adorama.com/help/termsAndConditions (external link) - “We make every effort to provide you with an error-free Web site. However, in the event there is a misprint, we reserve the right to correct copy or pricing to reflect the actual current status”.

It's nice having a portable DAC as an option, but TBH I sort of hesitate to use it on the go since running cables from my phone to the DAC and then another set from the DAC to the headphones can be a hassle. I use it more in my office and run it between my phone and the AUX port in my car, but not really when I'm out and about. I actually want to get standalone DAC's for my car and office, but not a priority. For a portable option, I would love to have one of these: http://www.amazon.com …er-Titanium/dp/B017SBSOB0 (external link)

I general I'm a fan of separate amps and DAC's for headphones and speaker set-ups though. I'm not really deep in the audiophile rabbit hole these days (that can involve a lot of stupidity around $500 cables and what-not), but nothing has a more immediate impact to sound quality than having more power on tap, and better quality signal from the source.

I think it's common for photographers to also be audiophiles, up to this point I've probably spent similar amounts on camera stuff as I have on speakers and amps!

Great colors as usual with your images David.

Honey mustard glazed corned beef

This is corned beef and vegetables. From the slow cooker, the corned beef was given a honey mustard glaze and then grilled to create a crust

Delicious!

Hah there are certainly parallels between audio and photography. I'm not too big into audio these days...can't afford to support both hobbies! Plus being audiophile is sort of a lonely affair that involves a lot of time in isolation with a pair of headphones or locked up in a listening room/HT. At least photography is something that can be appreciated by people other than myself (including the wife, who is more OK with me buying a lens that can be used for family stuff, than a new speaker purchase, which she will never appreciate).
