Gene, you're making me very hungry. I caught a stomach bug in Friday and haven't eaten much at all since then. Good news is I lost a few pounds. Haha. Bad news is I didn't get any shooting in this past weekend.

David, beautiful sunset and colors!

Hah there are certainly parallels between audio and photography. I'm not too big into audio these days...can't afford to support both hobbies! Plus being audiophile is sort of a lonely affair that involves a lot of time in isolation with a pair of headphones or locked up in a listening room/HT. At least photography is something that can be appreciated by people other than myself (including the wife, who is more OK with me buying a lens that can be used for family stuff, than a new speaker purchase, which she will never appreciate).

That makes sense, I've personally never enjoyed using headphones. My speakers are used whenever the TV is on, but mostly for watching movies/listening to music so it gets a lot of use. For me, I wouldn't upgrade my speaker system again unless I moved into a bigger place so in the long run I'll spend way more on camera stuff!

I hadn't gotten into headphones until I got so busy that I didn't have time to really sit and really just listen or watch anything. So now audio to me is headpones in the office, or a modest system I built in my car.

Its funny I always wanted a dedicated listening room/home theater, and now that I have one, I never use it because I never have the time.

Wow, lovely setup! I'm sure it'll start to get used a lot more as your children get older. I spent a lot of time with my Dad watching films/listening to music in his dedicated home theatre/office.

Now I own a small one bedroom apartment (500 square feet) and live with my fiancé, so no room for a dedicated space, but I certainly can't complain!

Clean setup Carlo. Very cool. When my wife and I were designing our home, I had a choice of a home theater room or photography room. As much as I love watching movies, I love photography more so I chose that. My living is pre-wired for 7.1 surround sound though. I don't even own a tv in the house though. One day that will change.

Are those Dynaudio bookshelf speakers? Very nice.

Yeah with the kids running around, we spend most of our time in the living-room. It's pre-wired for 5.1, but I'm running a simple 2.1 set-up with a pair of these guys (external link) hooked up to a beefy ad-com amp. They sound surprisingly good and I haven't felt the itch to upgrade them or add the other 3 speakers I bought with the kit. Huge soundstage that fills the room as well as a 5.1 set-up would.

Thanks Alfredo. this room would actually work perfectly as a photography studio since it has no windows and I've toyed with the idea of scrapping the theater to turn it into a photography room....studio lights with a small work station in the corner to edit photos and what-not. My wife is actually the one that prefers having a theater so she said no hah.

My main speakers are Bowers & Wilkins CM1, powered by an Arcam amp with a BK Electronics subwoofer. I've kept my whole setup all very English as it's one thing this country still makes very well. My computer speakers are Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 and I have a pair of P3 headphones made by them too.

A good 2.1 set up is under rated for movies in my opinions, I don't have the space, but even if I did I don't think I'd add another three channels either.

Ah nice. I'm a fan of B&W and actually when building out my HT it came down to the CM9 vs Paradigm studios, with the studios edging it out for being a bit brighter (which I wanted for home theater). Plus I found the studios 60's for a steal on craigslist, so I picked those up and built the rest of the system around those.

Thanks! They sure make beautiful speakers and Paradigm does make sense for a home theatre setup. The CM range is great value for money I think, the Diamond range is even more amazing but so is that price! I'm pretty sure that's standard business practice though, but I fall for it every time!

Hah the best buy near my office actually has a listening room with the diamonds hooked up to McIntosh electronics, and hearing those are what drew me to the CM9. There was a time where visiting dealers on my lunch break just to listen to gear I can't afford was actually a thing.
