David, I had the same issue. I ultimately gave up and used my camera to login to the App Store and download the app. That worked fine. Only issue is entering your login credentials using the virtual keypad. Tedious. I use the Smooth Reflections app and the Touchless app (forgot the name but it's free).
As I mentioned in previous post I had also been trying it in-camera as well. Same thing. I hit the confirm and purchase button and it just reloads the same payment screen all over again. I even switched my payment method from credit card to PP and that didn't work either.
I haven't tried the pre-paid wallet thing because I'm afraid that won't work as well and then I'd just be tossing $5 in a hole where I can't even use it. Still, it's only $5 so I may give it a try.
But good grief: Sony is completely incompetent regarding the app store. I search online and find all sorts of frustrated people like me complaining about it
over the last few years, yet they haven't done anything to make it work better.
