Looks like On1 announced a new RAW editor for their suite. I'm going to be checking it out. Their browse tool is fast, much faster than LR previews. I hope the new RAA editor handles my portrait images better than LR.

I just tried to install the 'smooth reflections' app and it worked fine. I used my PC (Win7 Pro 64 bit) and Chrome browser to go to the Playmemories website. After logging on, I selected the app and was prompted to install the app downloader on my PC which I did. I connected my camera to the PC via USB cable, made the purchase and the app was downloaded to my camera. I may have the order mixed up a bit but everything went without a hitch. I already had my CC info on file.

Hey Vinz, I wanted to ask you how you are liking the 85GM. I'm reading similar reviews here and there, but would love to hear from fellow POTNer. I already have the Batis 85, but was also curious about the 85GM.. Thanks in advance.


EDIT: If I may ask, how many of you have plans to purchase the 85GM in the near future? If you do, please feel free to reach out to me. Sony employees' website just got this 85GM and RX1RII in inventory. No 24-70GM yet though. I don't get 40-50% discount like I used to and don't know how many they have in stock ATM but I know I can buy them right now at lower cost than retail. I'm thinking I should be able to sell a brand new 85GM for $1650 and $2900 for brand new RX1RII... If prices are not attractive, please simply disregard this memo. Thanks!

so far i like what i'm seeing. although i haven't really tested it yet for its purpose. I have a model to shoot on thursday and I'll get back to you.

it's really big though. but it feels good in my (small)hands. it's looks well built and expensive too. with the noise, i think only you can hear it except if it's too quiet around. like at night when everyone is already sleeping.

My wife pretty much insisted I give up my two floor-standing Klipsch Chorus II speakers, the huge Cerwin-Vega subwoofer, the 36-inch Klipsch center speaker and the Klipsch corner rear speakers and the Linaeum Optimus rear surround speakers and the receiver/amplifier that powered it all--well it did take up a lot of space in the living room. So, I downsized to the best soundbar I could find, a Yamaha YSP 5600--had to upgrade to a 4K/3D 40" TV to go with the Oppo cd/blu-ray/dvd/dvd-audio/sacd/netflix/vud​u and everything else player. New entertainment center and new Klipsch (but smaller) subwoofer.

It works but I no longer can feel the air pressure moving in the room when I play music.

Charlie, I honestly don't know at this time. It used to give me options to select next day with little extra fee, but not anymore. I have no option at all to select delivery speed. It only says items will normally ship out of the warehouse within 2 days. However last time I ordered a TV, it didn't take too long at all.. Normally, it didn't usually take more than a week..

You know what.. I actually just placed an order for 3. I'll try to let you all know when I get them. Thanks for your interest!

Three indeed! I am interested in the 24-70.

LOL.. yes only 3 85GM for now... Folks, pls keep in mind I have sold more than $100K worth of Sony gear, so 3x85GM is not too much really.. and sorry no 24-70 available yet.

EDIT: Charlie just reserved one copy for his buddy. I'll let you know after I receive it. And since you are local, I'll most likely even have it delivered to your door at no extra cost! We'll be in touch.
