Yeah let me know if I need to update, running out of time for the trip....works fine as is....sometimes I just
like to hold back on FW updates and see what all falls out.

Anyone shooting with back-button focusing? I shoot my 5DS R that way and want to try it on the a7R II as well, but need to relearn how to set it up.

I have been using back button focusing since day one. Works great for me. Have had no regrets.

Here is how to set it up: http://www.colbybrownphotography.com …t-out-of-your-sony-a7rii/ (external link)

That's the link...thanks for the reminder.

I used BBF early on with the a7R, but did have "regrets", so I switched it back to default.

Undeniable benefits to BBF; I have just struggled to develop the muscle-memory for it. I've finally got comfortable with it on the 5DS R and am ready to switch to it on a7R II.

Admittedly AF skills have never been all that important to me as my most important images are typically manually focused. But, I'm growing and learning and improving, so hoping to become an AF master too. :)

I dont know. I have never get the hung of back button focus. I think i have set up my A7RII in a way that nobody else did lol. I used the back button for manual focus magnify when switched to AEL and when switched to MF/AF it will act as a toggle for AF/MF. I find having the magnify there makes my hands a lot more steady and confortable when shooting manual glass

I used to shoot my 6D with BBF, but realized very early on that thanks to the tilting screen on the a7S I very often found myself using my thumb on the shutter button which made using BBF impossible.

I have C2 mapped to focus lock, I just use that when I need to.

Hey Vinz, I wanted to ask you how you are liking the 85GM. I'm reading similar reviews here and there, but would love to hear from fellow POTNer. I already have the Batis 85, but was also curious about the 85GM.. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: If I may ask, how many of you have plans to purchase the 85GM in the near future? If you do, please feel free to reach out to me. Sony employees' website just got this 85GM and RX1RII in inventory. No 24-70GM yet though. I don't get 40-50% discount like I used to and don't know how many they have in stock ATM but I know I can buy them right now at lower cost than retail. I'm thinking I should be able to sell a brand new 85GM for $1650 and $2900 for brand new RX1RII... If prices are not attractive, please simply disregard this memo. Thanks!

No plans for the 85GM for me....but if you ever do this for the 24-70GM I'm interested. Thanks!

You got it Carlo! If or whenever I'm given opportunities (hard to come by these days..) to buy and sell at lower than retail costs, I mostly post them for sale on FM. But I'll let our POTNers know as well. Thanks for your interest.

double checked all firmwares again, and 35 1.4 and 150-600 on the Sigma adapter work much slower then metabones, really reminds me a7R with old metabones.

To clarify, your 35 art has the latest firmware and with the mc11 adaptor you are not getting phase detect and its really slow?? That's very disappointing

Have u tried any canon mount lenses with this adapter. Not sigma but canon lenses

not yet... after the frustrations on Monday I placed it back in the box, I will try it again tomorrow.

I need to call Sigma, and see if the abysmal performance is normal.

It sounds to me that if a lens isn't 'supported', then PDAF is disabled outright with the Sigma adapter....which is unfortunate, as the adapter would basically be useless unless you're using the lenses they've enabled via the firmware.
